Fleet management is at a critical juncture, and the numbers tell a compelling story. This year, 60% of large fleets have adopted standardized global strategies, achieving consistency and operational efficiency across regions. At the same time, electrification is surging forward, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) expected to represent 60% of fleets by 2030. As the industry phases out internal combustion engines, Europe leads with the strictest CO₂ caps and the fastest transitions to electrified fleets.
For those managing costs, the survey reveals vital benchmarks. Despite economic pressures, fleets are targeting 5.5% cost savings globally, driven by strategic use of leasing models like full-service leasing, the dominant financing option in regions such as Europe and Asia-Pacific. The rise of digital and data-driven tools is also evident, with telematics usage increasing from 16% to 35% as companies prioritize operational efficiency and safety.
Key regional trends underscore the diversity of approaches needed for success:
- Europe is the frontrunner in adopting sustainability initiatives, with 94% of fleets planning to reduce ICE vehicles this year and the lowest average CO₂ emissions globally at 101 g/km.
- North America is streamlining brand portfolios, with managers working with just 6.5 brands on average to drive consistency and optimize costs.
- Asia-Pacific is balancing regional complexity with ambitious sustainability goals, reflected in its 61% planned increase in BEVs despite challenges in EV infrastructure.
- Latin America continues to lead in cost-efficiency, setting the highest regional savings target of 6.3%, while tackling adoption barriers for telematics and electrification.
